Challenge

Traditionally, hotel bookings are associated with overnight stays, but Microstay Extra offers a flexible, short-stay option that caters to travelers needing only a few hours of rest or a place to freshen up. The challenge lies in shifting consumer mindset from the conventional full-day booking to this innovative, time-efficient model. Additionally, communicating the tangible benefits—such as cost savings, convenience, and the ability to maximize travel plans—requires strategic marketing to overcome skepticism and ensure users understand the value of this new offering. Goibibo tries to experiment this option on their website.

Process

The product development process begins with a Competitor Analysis, where key competitors' profiles, business models, strengths, weaknesses, and product performance are thoroughly examined. Insights from this analysis inform the subsequent User Research phase, where target users' needs and pain points are identified through surveys and interviews. These insights guide the creation of a Product Sketch, visualizing the initial concept and design of the product. Finally, detailed Wireframes are developed, outlining the product's structure and user flow, serving as a blueprint for the final design. Finally, a comprehensive Product Requirements Document (PRD) is created, detailing the features, functionalities, and specifications that the product must meet, serving as a blueprint for the development team.

PRODUCT SKETCH & MOCKUPS

Following our initial sketching sessions and valuable user feedback, we delved deeper into product wireframing. These detailed blueprints provided a more concrete visualization of the user interface, outlining the layout, navigation, and interaction flows. By carefully considering user insights and refining our design concepts, we were able to create wireframes that effectively conveyed the intended functionality and user experience, setting a solid foundation for subsequent design iterations and development.
