Challenge
An India based Research community app had a challenge in effectively designing mobile App pages to capture and leverage user information during the initial onboarding process to create a personalized and engaging research community app experience. The design needs to strike a balance between gathering essential data and maintaining user interest.
Distinct Login Pages: Creating separate login pages for each user group.
Role Selection: Implementing a role selection option for new users.
Tailored Onboarding: Designing specific onboarding steps and data collection points for each user type.

Process
The Figma design outlines a multi-step onboarding process:
Initial Engagement: The user is greeted with a clear call-to-action ("Create Account") and a concise introduction to the app's purpose.
User Segmentation: The app quickly establishes user roles (student, professor) to tailor subsequent information requests.
Data Collection: Essential details like name, college, email, contact information, and degree are gathered in a progressive manner.
Progress Indicators: Visual cues like progress bars and descriptive buttons guide users through the process.
Solution
By consistently gathering user feedback through surveys, analytics, and in-app interactions, the development team can identify areas for enhancement. A/B testing allows for experimentation with different onboarding flows and personalization strategies, enabling data-driven decisions on the most effective approaches. Continuous refinement based on these insights ensures the app evolves to meet the changing needs of its users and delivers an exceptional experience.
Iterative improvement directly influences key product metrics. By enhancing user experiences, we can expect to see increases in user acquisition, user engagement, and user retention. Additionally, optimized onboarding and personalized recommendations can drive higher conversion rates and improve Net Promoter Score (NPS). Ultimately, these improvements contribute to overall product success
